Trends on TikTok move at the speed of lightning. Late in 2020 there was a trend of videos about Chinese Street Fashion going around TikTok. In these videos a range of models and influencers were captured walking in slow motion to the beat of Blackpink’s song “How You Like That”. In the videos these influencers are wearing high fashion and streetwear from brands such as Balenciaga and Vetements.
In these videos it shows the unique fashion in China. These clips were taken in Shanghai and Beijing where many of the subjects will stare directly into the camera as if they know they were being filmed. They are filmed wearing incredibly stylish black clothes with chunky shoes and their traditional Hanfu giving it a modern twist.
These videos came out of nowhere and started trending from TikTok pages of creators such as @marstruck and many more. There are many parts of the videos, and they are quite popular and gets millions of likes and views. Not only is it giving the rest of the world a glimpse of China’s impeccable sense of style but also shows the western world the versatility of the style in Asia. It is about taking risks in fashion and pairing simple pieces with something elegant and creating a high fashion look that draws attention. They also like pairing their masks with their outfits and the result works out well.
I would say compared to Western fashion, Asian fashion is risk-taking and exciting, the kind of style you wished you had. We can all take inspiration from that and make it our own. There is nothing better than creating your own style based on who you are and how you want to be perceived. Fashion is a language we all understand.

Chinese fashion has always been very statement-driven, we see this from their traditional fashion style, to now their unconventional street fashion styles... with every piece of clothing symbolizing something, or communicating something. Their fashion perspective allows for fluidity and variety, with absolutely no definite point of reference. Their style ranges from dominant streetwear to a more feministic style of dressing, extending to a calmer approach, and if you sometimes choose rebelliousness then that too is not shied upon. I am absolutely in love with their ability to express themselves like that through the art of fashion communication. Great blog.
I have been obsessed with Chinese street fashion ever since those TikToks started coming out! I honestly think I just fell in love with the level of expression and effort that went into every piece. I mean, they looked AMAZING, every single one of them! This post really just took me back and gave me so much inspiratio. Thank you girl ❤️❤️❤️
